Think I'm gonna have a lie-down

I have blood sugar problems from time to time, and tend to get crashy if I don't watch it. Generally I do pretty well with this, but last night... oy.

Mostly skipped breakfast yesterday, had a light lunch around 12, and then didn't get home until 8. Grabbed a quick bite (bread) to tide me over while [livejournal.com profile] ginkgo and I went grocery shopping. Which took a lot longer than I thought. We got home after 10, and by that point it was all I could do to walk straight. (I think I actually passed out in the car at one point - I woke up in a *REALLY* uncomfortable utter-slumped position, and had no idea where I was.)

So 10:30-12 was spent just trying to eat... *anything*. I was nauseated and was having weird pains in my chest and stomach, so the turkey/gruyere sandwich I made was a loss. Ate half of it, put the rest in the fridge.

Now here's the weird part... after I started to recover a bit, I noticed that I was aching. Everywhere. And kept bouncing between sweaty hot and clammy cold. Yup, a fever. Oh, and a splitting headache. Both have continued through today, so I'm heading home from work in a bit.

Oh yeah, one other weird bit - when we were getting into the car at the store, and I was starting to have problems pushing the cart in a straight line, I had an odd sensation in my head (like a *thump*), an extreme light-headed feeling, and then my vision got CRYSTAL FUCKING CLEAR. OMG, I could make out leaves on trees two blocks away. At night. No joke. This lasted for about five minutes. I'd love to have that back.

Edit: Awwwwww, you all *DO* care! :D I'm going to go drop by the internal clinic at 2 when they re-open for non-emergency visits.

Go To The Doctor. Now.

Trust me. Normal stuff, or what seems normal, could not be. Get your glucosimine tested to find out your insulin resistance. Have your cortisal tested as well (that was the crystal clear vision thing, btw. I had it once during a cortisal stimulation test. Cool, but also a little scary. It happens when your body pumps piles of adreneln into your system to keep you functioning when you might otherwise pass out, which means your body thought you were in crisis enough to do it.).

Make an appointment at a local clinic today and tell them just what happened. 'cause it might be nothing. It might be just not eating. It might also be life threatening.

My offer to pick you up still stands...

Go to the doctor. I don't feel like finding another mad scientist to help me take over the world.

You've probably already left, but in case you haven't, the EMT here (me, that is) says go seek professional medical help now.

Duh.

Passing out, inability to eat, pains, headache, funky vision ... gracious, you make my blood sugar issues look like minor peckishness. Please give us an update on what they speculate, and then again when the text results come in!

Looks like enough folks have advised medical treatment, so I won't jump on as well.

I'll just thank M. for keeping on top of me and my own blood-sugar issues. Of course, some of that's self-defense, as my first symptom is extreme snappishness. This leads to the frequent exchange:

M: (some innocuous comment)

G: RARRRGH!

M: "Go have something to eat."
