Just got off the phone from a 45 min tech support call w/ my 86yo great aunt.

Trying to explain IMAP, POP, SMTP, server firewalls, sleep vs. display dim, etc, etc, etc.

We always said she'd outlive all of us, but we didn't realize it was because she'd DRIVE THE REST OF US TO SUICIDE

"No, it's not spontaneously shutting off, it's going to sleep."
"No, don't pull the plug from the wall when it does that, that's bad for it."
"Ok, you can't get it to wake up? Fine, we'll disable sleep, call a repair guy on Monday."
"No, when you cancelled your Verizon DSL, you lost your @verizon.net email account. Yes, they're tied. Yes, I'm sorry they didn't tell you that. No, you can't get back to it."
"No, when setting up your email client to use GMail, you have to enter in your account information in your Mail client's preferences, *NOT* into the screenshots of same on the GMail help page. Yes, it's different."
"No, you can't get back to your old email account. Yes, I'm serious."
"No, ignore the warning from your email client that it can't connect to your old account. It's okay. Really."
"No, really."
"Really. Ignore it."
"Just ignore it."
"Please ignore it."
"I'M FUCKING BEGGING YOU TO IGNORE THE CAUTION SIGN YOU OLD BAT!"
"Yes, that one. Ignore it."
"Love you too. Bye."

*sigh*
